The Source Image

Agriculture is the largest human intervention on Earth. Nothing has done more to shape our landscapes, our economies, our politics, our tastes, our traditions, our cultures. Food has nourished and cultivated civilisations over millennia. The world is changing fast. The shift towards a food system that prioritises profit over life poses a threat to our collective existence. Despite our disconnection, the one thing that still binds everyone is food.

The Source Image was set up around 20 years ago with the sole purpose of telling the stories of those who have been marginalised, those with no voice, those most affected by the negative impacts of industrialisation on land, agriculture and food.
Our primary focus is to look at ways to tell compelling, often untold stories, focus on solutions that have existed and thrived for hundreds of years, stimultate an emotional connection to people and places and, hopefully, the issues they face.
As we become surrounded by an endless stream of negative media, we need to start finding ways to develop and produce media that reflects the true reliance of our communities and ecosystems, which continue to give us hope for the future.
